What Is The Difference?

Laser Hair Removal

Kills hair follicles which prevents hair growth using a concentrated beam of light Very quick>fastest hair removal method Much less painful than waxing Mostly permanent (hair will always regrow after a few years on women due to hormones) Can only be performed on darker hair Takes multiple sessions (generally 3-6) Prevents ingrown hairs

Waxing

Smoother, longer lasting results than shaving Removes hair from the root so hairs don’t create a prickly feeling when they re-grow Hair will grow back weaker, making it finer, sparser and softer over time Quicker than shaving Any hair type Every 4 weeks

How To Prep

Laser Hair Removal

Lightly exfoliate 3-4 days prior Shave the night before/day of the treatment No retinols, tretinoins etc 2 weeks before treatment No waxing, tweezing, hair removal cream 4 weeks before treatment Wait 10 days to shave before the night before/day of treatment No tanning (this includes self tanners) 4 weeks before treatment

Waxing

Hair needs to be the length of a grain of rice (1/4 in.) No shaving 2 weeks prior No lotions, crèmes, etc day of the service Exfoliate night before Wear loose fitting clothing No injections for 14 days before or after in area to be waxed

Post-Care

Laser Hair Removal

No swimming, working out, hot tub, sauna, or sexual activity(if applicable to area treated) etc for 48 hours post treatment Wait 10 days to shave Hair will appear to grow back darker and thicker quickly, this is the hair being pushed out of the damaged follicle No touching the area No exfoliating for at least 1 week after treatment Keep area clean and dry

Waxing

Avoid excessive heat or friction to area for at least 48 hours Do not touch area to avoid infection No swimming pools, saunas, hot showers or spas for 48 hours Avoid gym work, sports or strenuous exercise for 48 hours Wear clean, loose fitting clothing No applying lotions, deodorants, powders or body sprays for 24 hours Can exfoliate after 24 hours and again when hair starts growing back in Start moisturizing again 3 days after treatment Avoid sun, tanning etc.
